For those who need a little bit of adventure with their pool lounging, there’s no shortage of activities at Sirru Fen Fushi. Snorkelling equipment is complimentary, so we made full use of it during our stay. There’s a SSI diving centre too, operated by a third-party organisation, Sub-Oceanic Maldives. The 6km long house reef, just steps from your room, teems with marine life. Experience

While my diver companions went on an underwater adventure to play with sea turtles and reef sharks, I got my first-ever snorkelling lesson from the in-house instructor, Ali, near my water villa. As thrilled as I was at the sight of butterfly fish and lobsters flitting below me, the real rush came from conquering the fear of water and sea creatures. An immersive learning experience

To inspire guests to connect with nature, Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa has launched an initiative called ‘Thilamaafushi Marine Masters’. Spearheaded by Sub Oceanic, the resort’s dive partner and in-house marine biologist, guests can book modules where they will be trained in subjects such as atoll topography, coral health monitoring, and turtle, ray and shark identification. The programme is available in modules or as a full curriculum for everyone from young children to adults. One of the most exciting topics is Mangrove 101, where guests visit the mangroves on the island and learn about the vibrant marine life thriving there.
