Tourism establishments in Maldives are required to display prices without prevailing GST (Goods and Service Tax) and Service Charge. Be sure you understand the final cost when you compare prices.
Do the calculation correctly: Add the GST on the Sum of the Price and Service Charge amount together. Take note that the GST in Maldives is a highly dynamic component. While the last GST adjustment to 16% took effect in January 2024, the next adjustment to 17% is announced for July 2025.

1. Is the dive guide included in your dive package price?
When comparing Maldives Dive Package prices, be aware that some Dive Centers charge extra for a Dive Guide. It is common in the Maldives, to charge extra for a private Dive Guide. However, most places will display their dive prices as guided dives. We still recommended to look at the Dive Package details prior comparing prices.
2. Is Nitrox included in your dive package price?
Please make sure that Nitrox is available prior booking a Dive Package in the Maldives. To get the full benefit of your Maldives Dive Package you will definitely need Nitrox to enjoy Maldives Underwater World to the max! Don’t forget clarifying if Nitrox is included in the Dive Package price. Additional charges for Nitrox should be clearly communicated before your booking. In case additional charges apply, charges are either per Tank or per day.
3. Are boat fees included in your dive package price?
Boat fees should ideally be included in the Dive Package pricing. Few Resorts in the Maldives have some of the best House Reefs in the World. However, you will most probably still end up using Dive Boats to discover more of Maldives best Dive Sites in your area.
Despite having Maldives most beautiful House Reef at Le Meridien, we still included boat charges in our Non-Limit Diving Packages. You have the freedom of choice without worrying about any additional cost. At Sub Oceanic Maldives, all displayed Diving Rates include all possible boat fees.
4. Is equipment included in your dive package price?
Diving Equipment rental fees are likely another substantial component of your final price per Dive. In case additional charges for renting Diving Equipment apply, make sure if those charges are per day or per Dive.
At Sub Oceanic, the Dive Equipment is included in all Dive prices. For Divers using their own dive gear receive a Discount upon check out.
5. Is insurance included in your dive package price?
Sub Oceanic Maldives is a trusted partner of leading US hospitality brands like Marriott or Hilton. Sub Oceanic provides guest with the highest insurance coverage in the industry – for all offered activities. Participants only require to adhere to the conditions of participation.
For Scuba Diving it works unfortunately a bit different. As most actions are autonomous actions of the participating certified individual diver, each certified diver is responsible for their own insurance coverage. A general coverage for certified Scuba Divers participating dives at one Dive Center is not yet available on the market.
We highly recommend all divers in Maldives to having their own Diving Insurance. Ideally obtained in their home countries. However, we do also offer DAN Short Term insurances for our Divers. However, due to a complicated local insurance law, the coverage is significantly lower than a regular DAN Insurance anywhere else. Our recommendation is getting your Diving Insurance before your Diving holiday in the Maldives.
6. What happens to my dive package in case I get ear problems?
With Sub Oceanic you will only miss out some good Dives. Financially, there won’t be any impact for you. At Sub Oceanic we never collect charges beforehand. Upon checkout, we always create the best possible Dive Package for you. The best price depends on the total amount of Dives conducted per Diver.
Please note that this does not apply to most other Dive Packages in the Maldives. Most of the time amounts paid are retained. In other cases procedures to get overpaid amounts back are very complicated.
7. What happens to my dive package if the weather does not allow to go all dive sites?
The answer to this question is almost identical with the answer above. With Sub Oceanic only conducted Dives are chargeable. We will only charge your Dives after your last Dive during your stay with us!
Especially on liveaboards the chance of reimbursements is rather low, in case weather was the limiting factor. For liveaboard trips, the trip price is paid as one total sum beforehand. That also includes diving. Missing out dives, is covered under the “force majeure” clause. Bad luck for you:-( Even compressor problems, or other reasons reducing number of dives are covered by that clause.
