Without any doubt Maldives is a Dream Destination, which many people would love to visit once in their lifetime! Living in Maldives comes with a Dream like set up and life is idyllic from many different perspectives. However, perspective is also something what is missing for many of the local population. Purely based on the fact of its remoteness.
The year 2025 presented great opportunities to bring people together and to open new perspectives for a local community, where many of our Team Members have their Roots! Being a company of strong values, a well settled operation, great training facilities, and outstanding business partners, we took the chance help the local community .
Partnerships win – Mares, SSI & Le Meridien Maldives on Board!
We could win our Partners Le Méridien Maldives, Scuba Schools International and Mares. All our Partners were all in to support and sponsor a local School Class from Ohluvehlifushi, Le Méridien Maldives Neighbouring Island.
For the next couple of years, until the class graduates from school, Sub Oceanic Maldives will take care of the coordination and the Training Programs. Those Training Programs are related to Nature, Safety and Water. Of course we will also provide an endless supply of our very popular Sub Oceanic Fish ID Cards.
The program officially became alive in August 2025. The HR Team of Le Méridien, a delegation of SSI including the CEO Guido Waetzing and his wife Natalie, joined Sub Oceanic to visit to the School. Our Marine Biologist Cesar gave an engaging presentation about the local Turtle population and how those Turtles can be protected.
Getting Maldives new Generation on Board and Aware!
In order to increase the students attention, prices as incentives for correct answers were very helpful. The outstanding support is not only coming from our Business Partners.
Even more important for making this Project happen, is the support of the warm hearted School Principal Mr. Ibrahim Ismail and our Water Sports Team Leader and Diving Instructor at Le Meridien “Nuttey”.
The next step of Project Mx4 happened in October 2025 when Mares Vice President Stefan Michl handed over Snorkel Gear for all of the Students in the class.
Long lasting support is secured
Le Meridien Maldives keeps supporting the class and school with regular exchange programs and back of the house insights so students can get some idea about hospitality opportunities for their Future. Also school material Donations from Le Méridien Maldives are a regular happening.
Safety First
Being aware that not all Maldivians can naturally swim, Sub Oceanic Maldives started to conduct regular swimming session at the Island of Ohluvehlifushi and could finally invite the class for a visit to Le Meridien Maldives Marine Center, followed by a House Reef snorkeling tour under guidance of our Marine Biologist Cesar. To continue project mMx4 and to keep the students engaged, SSI sponsors all Marine Ecology Programs to this Class and regular Marine Biology lessons are already scheduled.
Moreover, whenever the Kids are ready, they will be also trained in First Aid techniques. SSI already agreed also sponsors their React Right Courses. Those courses are provide by SSI even in Maldives local language Dhivehi. That is especially helpful once it comes to Medical Terms.
